Havasu Balloon Festival and Fair January 19-22, 2023

We are once again at Windsor Beach 4, Arizona State Park. With over 70 Hot Air balloons including some new Special Shape Balloons including Elvis and the UFO Balloon. We will have food, entertainment and carnival rides. The 12th Annual Havasu Balloon Festival and Fair is heating up for an amazing January event!

Our Title Partner, Anderson Toyota is back for yet another year supporting our 2023 event theme “Balloons Over The Bridge”

The four-day festival is slated for January 19th through the 22nd and is expected to bring more than 25,000 visitors to the event. On January 14th we have our Annual Golf Tournament, this year at Lake Havasu Golf Club. Be sure and check out the website for the registration form. Also on January 21st is our Annual 10K and 5K Annual Fun Run/Walk which you can sign up for on the web site as well. According to organizers this is the largest balloon festival in January in the U.S. and attracts balloonists from Canada, the Midwest and all over the world.

There is offsite parking with four huge parking lots that attendees can use. Buses and shuttles will bring people to and from the front gates. The event location is back at Windsor 4 Beach, Lake Havasu State Park close to the London Bridge. The 2023 event theme is “Balloons Over The Bridge”.

One of the popular activities is the balloon glow at night with it’s new name “Glowin’ on the River”, which features a DJ and MC and will be choreographed to music. There will also be fun glow sticks and glow items available for purchase. When balloons glow and the lights flicker, it is heart-pumping and spectacular. In the morning balloon pilots also do a “splash-and-dash” over the water close to the London Bridge in the Channel, allowing the balloon baskets to barely touch the water. It takes a lot of skill by the pilot to accomplish that.

For entertainment, four headline acts will appear on stage, including RAS-1, Black Donnelly’s, Kevin Jaxon and Matt Farris. A variety of local bands, other live music and local clubs, karate and youth clubs will provide additional entertainment. Carnival rides will delight kids of all ages.

Please plan on coming out and enjoying the whole day. Come for the balloon launch in the morning, enjoy the entertainment all day and stay for balloon glow in the evening. We will also have vendors and an assortment of food trucks and beer gardens to satisfy all your tastes.

The festival is run 100% by volunteers and takes approximately 1,200+ people to donate their time for the four-day event. Many volunteers spend their time all year long in the planning stages. Funds raised are divided amongst the Lake Havasu City Lions, three Rotary Clubs and the Kiwanis Club of Lake Havasu City, which they in turn donate back into the local community. Our hope is that you will participate in our exciting event and help to contribute to those less fortunate in our community.

Lake Havasu City is a fun place to be and a day trip from Laughlin, Las Vegas, Eastern Arizona and Phoenix. We hope everyone decides to attend, have fun outside while enjoying our great weather. It’s a great colorful, exciting and spectacular event. For more information, please call 928-505-2440 or visit www.HavasuBalloonFestival.com

Havasu Balloon Festival and Fair January 10-21, 2018

With a new location and date, 70-plus hot air balloons, food, entertainment and rides, the eighth annual Havasu Balloon Festival and Fair is heating up for a spectacular January.

Our Title Partner, Anderson Toyota is back for another year supporting the Balloons Above Windsor Beach at Windsor 4 (AZ State Parks).

The three-day festival is slated for January 19th through the 21st (it was formally held on MLK weekend) and is expected to bring more than 24,000 visitors to the event. According to organizers, it’s the largest balloon festival in January in the U.S. and attracts balloonists from Canada, the Midwest and overseas.

The biggest change this year is the festival location as it will no longer be held on the island so there won’t be as many traffic problems as in the past. There is also more offsite parking with four huge parking lots that attendees can use and buses and shuttles will bring people to and from the front gates. The new location will be at Windsor 4 park, Lake Havasu State Park, close to the famous London Bridge.  The 2018 event theme is Balloons Above Windsor Beach to further get out the message of the new location.

One of the most popular activities is the balloon glow at night, which features a DJ and MC and will be choreographed to music. When balloons glow and the lights flicker, it is heart-pumping and spectacular. During the day, balloon pilots also do a “splash-and-dash” over the water close to the London Bridge in the channel, bringing the balloon baskets to barely touch the water. It takes a lot of skill by the pilot to accomplish that.

For entertainment, three headline acts will don the stage, including “The Walkens”, “One of These Nights” and “Matt Farris”. A variety of local bands and other live music along with local clubs, karate and youth clubs will provide additional entertainment. Carnival rides and pony rides will delight kids and a 5k “Run With Balloons” will be held inside the state park.

Please plan on coming out and enjoying the whole day. Come for the balloon launch in the morning, enjoy the entertainment all day and stay for the balloon glow in the evening.

The festival is run 100 percent by volunteers and takes approximately 1,400 to 2,000 people to donate their time for the three-day event. Many volunteers spend their time all year long in the planning stages.  Funds raised are divided amongst two Lake Havasu City Lions and three Rotary clubs which they in turn donate back into the local community. Our hope is that you come to help us raise money to give back to less fortunate, while having a great time! A golf tournament will be held the weekend prior as a fundraiser with a $10,000 cash prize.

Lake Havasu City is a fun place to be and a day trip from Laughlin, Las Vegas, and Phoenix. We hope everyone decides to attend, have fun outside while enjoying our great weather.  It’s a very colorful, delightful, spectacular event.   For more information, visit havasuballoonfestival.com.

AMERICAN BUS ASSOCIATION NAMESthe Havasu Balloon Festival and Fair ONE OF NORTH AMERICA’S 100 BEST EVENTS FOR 2014

The Havasu Balloon Festival and Fair Event is a Ticket to Fun and to Critical Group Tourism Dollars

Lake Havasu City, AZ January 17-19, 2014

The American Bus Association (ABA) announced today that the Havasu Balloon Festival and Fair held, January 17 – 19, 2014, has been designated as one of the Top 100 Events in North America for 2014 by an experienced expert tourism industry selection committee. Inclusion in the Top 100 list, published as a supplement to the September/October issue of Destinations magazine, indicates that the Havasu Balloon Festival and Fair offers excellent entertainment value to both tour groups and individual travelers from around the world, according to ABA. With the release of the American Bus Association’s 2014 Top 100 Events in North America, ABA celebrates 32 years of the program. What began as a way for motorcoach operators to incorporate new product into their itineraries has grown to one of the most sought after lists by travel professionals, motorcoach operators and the general public.

“The attractiveness of the Havasu Balloon Festival and Fair as a don’t-miss entertainment value is only part of why its selection this year is such a distinction for the Havasu Balloon Festival and Fair,” said Peter J. Pantuso, CTIS, ABA’s president and CEO.

“The real news here is that the Havasu Balloon Festival and Fair has been recognized as a potential magnet for tourism dollars, at a time when reenergizing domestic tourism is so important to our spirit and our economy. The honor gives the Havasu Balloon Festival and Fair an important boost in visibility among professional tour planners.”

According to studies completed by researchers at The George Washington University and Dunham and Associates, one overnight visit by a motorcoach group can leave from US $5,000 to more than US $11,000 in a local destination’s economy. Those dollars are spent on lodging, meals, admissions, fees, shopping, souvenirs, services and local taxes.

“Motorcoach groups spend more and stay longer,” Pantuso said. “That’s why the Havasu Balloon Festival and Fair is truly a local economic asset. There is no better way to jump-start tourism than to attract motorcoach groups to a great event and convince them to extend their stay.”

ABA’s 2014 Top 100 Events Selection Committee selected the Havasu Balloon Festival and Fair from hundreds of event nominations submitted by ABA members. Judges considered the event’s broad appeal, its accessibility to motorcoaches and skill at handling large groups, and a variety of other relevant criteria. The Top 100 Events list is available online at http://www.buses.org/News-Publications/Top-100.
